The Essence of Masculinity Is Productive Generosity

CNN's John Sutter takes on the idea that agreeableness is an essential part of being a man. He says research shows it has no correlation with success in enterprise, business or creative domains. In fact, among managers, agreeableness looks like it's slightly negatively correlated with success because hyper agreeable managers can't say no and they're more susceptible to manipulation. The author also argues that generosity should be defined as withholding resources from people who will squander them.
