What Is Gross Domestic Product?
Gross domestic product is an aggregate measure almost always, but not always at the level of the nation-state. In Canada or in Ireland it measures all activity that generates income in any form whatsoever. But there's extraordinary problems with that measure because it doesn't actually tell us how even inside a particular nation-state how we're doing. The UN has its own human welfare index, I believe. It's called, I might have the letters wrong, but none of them have really caught on.
