The False Dilemma in AI Regulation
In some ways we as an industry, those of us who work in AI are putting ourselves sort of on the horns of a false dilemma. My experience has been that there are very few applications where you're going to see orders of magnitude of improvement by having a black box model. And I think we have a responsibility to make sure that if we're using something that is particularly obtuse in terms of interpretability, we have a really good reason for using that.
