Rankquist's Confirmation in the 1950s
William Rankquist served as a clerk for Robert Jackson in the 1950s. He was asked by Jackson to prepare a memo about Brown v. Board. A letter that is no longer in Frankfurter's papers, but appears to have been before the theft, could shed light on his nomination. And someone from the FBI or from the Nixon White House might have thought there would be something they could do with it.
