The Pleasures of God

The depth of the son's suffering was the measure of his love for the father's glory. God is most glorified in his incarnate son when he endures suffering and shame at the cross for his father's sake and glory. That the son was pleased to be crushed, that in the agony he endured for the joy set before him does not mean it was easy. This is pleasure deep enough to sustain and animate the soul against earth's greatest deterrence.
