The Disincentive of the Gay Community
The term transgender wasn't actually coined until the early 90s. A lot of trans women at the time would have called themselves queens or transvestites. The Stonewall was more inclusive, but it still wasn't completely inclusive. So that was also a disincentive for people of color, poor people to even go to Greenwich Village because most of the bars down there wouldn't let them in.
