Gweg's is a general purpose language. It has functions, but their goal is to create the derivations. And that's similar to what Gradle did with Groovy and with Kotlin. Or do you just have a language that is intentionally constrained and doesn't let you do that? I think one of the challenges with declarative languages like YAML for Kubernetes are they quickly reach the bounds of what the language enables you to do.
