Aaron had been in construction management for just about 10 years and he was miserable. His negative feelings about work and life left him feeling like he was failing his family at home and at work. After many years of working in a job that he didn't quite align with, Aaron found himself contemplating some scary things if it just meant that he could get out of work for a while. I want you to pay attention to how he worked up the courage to talk to his boss, who just happened to be his dad,. Having a job you dislike can have a more detrimental impact on your mental health than being unemployed (Seriously! This is backed by research). Aaron began to realize this truth as he found himself contemplating some pretty dark things if it just meant he didn’t have to go in to work. He had never identified with his career in construction management and felt extremely unfulfilled, but seeing as he worked for the family business… he felt completely trapped.
