They suggested that the Greeks discovered things in their pursuit of understanding the material world that can be instructive to us still today. Zeller: The systems built up by the Greek philosophers are not to be regarded merely as a preparation for modern philosophy. It was the Greeks who won for man freedom and independence of philosophic thought.
