Universal Pictures bought the rights to Ghost Stories in 1978. Fred Astaire had misgivings about continuing the film, because he found it kind of unsettling to work on. For modern audiences, you might know Alice Kriege as the Borg Queen in Star Trek First Contact from 1996.
