The Ecology of the DMZ

As early as the 1960s, biologists in Korea noticed that something unusual was happening there. The DMZ cut through a cross section of nearly every type of ecosystem in Korea. There were refugents for nearly every kind of native creature. For some endangered species, the DMZ has meant the difference between existence and extinction.
