The Purpose of Hypochondriacle Depression

The death of the mother, it seems, he had left aside his body and his feelings to a great degree. And so the, what Jung calls a hypochondriacle depression, pushed him into the body that he had always overlooked. So the constant concern and scanning for the body, even though the ego was relating to it in a somewhat painful, distorted way, was the direction. There was a purpose of this in that. I would suggest to our listeners who struggle with this same anxiety, is first to wonder what the purpose was. What the purpose is secondary from its superficial seeming.
