It's true that my research focus has shifted a bit, but it is still very much the same driving question. Trying to use some combination of empirical input and rational thought to come up with the best possible models of reality. I think we do the anthropic principle very, very badly in cosmology. And I think that physicists are very sloppy about it. You know, the typical physicist way of thinking is there's many wrong ways to get the right answer.
Welcome to the March 2023 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). We take questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable number — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy!
