The West Is Regressing Emotionally and Socially
A recent Pew survey over last year found that 39% of Americans say they are more anxious than they were a year ago. Friedman identified a five step self-perpetuating cycle of anxiety by which the West is regressing in a kind of downward spiral. For all the talk about how individualistic we are, especially in Portland where we're extra individualistic, we can't change the nature of what it means to be human.
