The Forest Fires in East Calamantan

All 234 passengers and crew on an indenesian air bus have been killed in thea september. Two cargo ships have collided off the melasian coast, with at least 20 crewmen reported missing. Monsoon rains, which were supposed to help dampen the fires have not arrived. And a huge cloud of smog caused by the blazes is still hanging over the area. The fires produce huge amounts of carbon dioxide, estimated by scientists to be more than ten % of the entire world's annual fossil fuel emissions.
