Is There a Safe and Legal Route to Asylum?
K Marsh, a migrant support coordinator was on LBC this morning. She said that for most countries these safe illegal routes just don't exist. And once you understand that it makes you realise that the channel is the only route. If there are legal routes you can take, you don't try and cross the channel first. Why would you risk your life? Here's an Iranian we've spoken to who has asked us not to use his name, who crossed via the channel in May 2021. He's still awaiting the outcome of his application, one of more than 150,000 people currently awaiting on the asylum processing backlog.
