Is There a Place for Speculation?
The open question is how do we build a crypto economic financial system that optimizes for these human needs? I think speculation serves a need of sorting which solutions are going to work before there's enough hard data about what's going to work. We have entire industries that are speculative for the only purpose they serve is, you know, numbers go up. And in itself, I think we really want to bind finance to the real economy and not just like, how can I create an algorithm to make the number go up?
