The Cost of the Death Penalty
The state of California is currently spending 137 million dollars per year allocated towards the death penalty. For every death penalty trial, the state will pay one million dollars more than for a non-death penalty trial. Only a third of death penalty trials result in a death sentence and only one tenth are executed. To me, that problem speaks volumes.
