How to Play Shogi in Chess
It's got a very much a forward bias and you and attacking bias as well so pieces can go forwards much easier than they retreat. There are also things that will throw you off so for example pawns in chess take capture diagonally whereas pawns in shogi capture forwards. It kind of trains you in that the sort of value of having the initiative always knowing where the opponent's king is and keeping focused on the king rather than just mop up material.
