The Mind Body Problem by Rebecca Goldstein
I learned a lot from at least two novels by my other half, the philosopher and novelist Rebecca Goldstein. Her first novel featuring a graduate student in philosophy doing a dissertation on The Mind Body Problem also exposed me to ideas in philosophy. A majority of mathematicians believe that mathematics is about something, some abstract feature of reality that they are discovering, not inventing. Carl Sagan's extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Pete Hine? Yet Hine? Yeah. His humorous little aphorisms. And he works of fiction or poems that teach Bayes' rule. I bet someone who's more familiar with fiction than I was could identify scenes from those novels.
