The Zagros Mountains, a Territories of the Persian Empire, and the Highland Uxians.

Between susa and the zagros mountains was a territory, let's call it uxia. It was inhabited by a people called the uxians. They had submitted to the persian empire before but were subservient now. Alexander first of all deals with the lowland uxians region. Now he's reaching the foothills of the zagaris mountains themselves. And it's here that he comes into conflict with the highland pastoral Uxians. Here they demand tribute from him just as they have with the persians. But you can see the importance of this when you consider what alexander does give them.
