Waters and the Other Stones
Waters had signed to chess records, then still named aristocrat, in 1947. He'd started out by recording electric versions of the same material he'd been performing acoustically. But soon he'd partnered with chess's great bass player, songwriter and producer, Willie Dixon. The pair wrote a string of blues classics both for Waters and for chess's other big star, Howling Wolf.
