The Fashing Experience in Southern Germany
In some parts of Germany they celebrate a festival called the Valporgas Nacht or like Walvald Porgues Night, which refers to a medieval saint. These people were not only afraid of wild animals, savaging them, but they also fear the very woods themselves as places of dark magic and curses. This is because it was very easy to get lost in the undergrowth and find oneself at the mercy of the elements. So here you see this connection between like the seasons and a very real need to survive and also kind of this abadlaba superstition.
