The Challenges of Separating Plutonium

Cameron: Plutonium is a synthetic element. It occurs only in extremely trace amounts naturally, but can be produced by the inert uranium two 38 capturing neutrons and then decays to plutonium two 39. In 19 forty two there was no discipline of nuclear engineering. This had to be developed from scratch,. first with experimental models and then building reactors that operated at power levels of 250 million wats.
