Is There a Difference Between Magic and Soft War?

We live in a world where there's more and more complexity to the technology, and it becomes distinguishable from magic. How much can you build them as something that's finished, versus now you've created for yourself a huge, open ended maintenance job? I think this goes back to what id spoken earlier around if you have a softwer product that is in the line of business for some company, or that a lot of people depend on. And i've also twed about kind of, this is part of why the subscription model actually does make sense for softwares. It's sor never done.
