How to Negotiate a Layoff
You got to get to know your rights when you're laid off. Severance is them paying you basically on it like an apology payment. If you signed a non-compete that you wouldn't work for another company in the same industry, ask about whether that's still going to be enforced. You might actually qualify for unemployment benefits. These are determined on a state-by-state basis and therefore there are a good amount of requirements.
