'Silent All These Years'
The harmony shifts to a new chord. It's this beautiful, long tone as the strings do that lovely swell. As she sings the name of the song, the arrangement comes all the way back down to jestoria and her piano. And in her right hand, she echoes the notes of the melody all the ye those four notes she plays the melody underlying silent all these years.
Tori Amos was one of the most distinctive songwriters of the 90s, and remains a powerful musical voice decades later. "Silent All These Years," one of many strong singles off of her 1992 solo debut, is a perfect encapsulation of so many of the things that make her music special.
