What Is Heat?

Heat is defined in chemistry and thermodynamics as the quantity of energy that flows across the boundary between a system and a surrounding. If you put a cold thing in a hot room heat will naturally go from areas of higher temperature to lower temperature. So it's going from where it's hotter to where it's cooler so that things even out.
