The Origins of Broths in the North
The dates for the broths in the north are between 400 and 200 BC, or at least that's when Scatness was built. That makes Sproch building earlier than people thought. It also means that they're all broth building started here in Orkney and Shetland rather than further south. And that makes perfect sense because Shetland and Orkney have this long tradition of building in stone.
