Filmmaker Martin scosesi says he didn't set out to make a left wing film. The idea that the company and the union are part of some nebulous system that oppresses them kind of flattens these differences. Is very much reflected in the film itself, which is good in many ways, like a lot of these movies are. It contributed to this increased kind of proto regan belief that s were not only corrupt and inefficient, but had outlasted their usefulness and were no longer necessary.
