Why Mary Pippin and Frodo Don't Expect to Do Much

Most people don't even realize it, just like the Hobbits. The brainwashing, the propaganda, the addiction, the techniques that are being used against all of us. Most people want to hide from this. It's too scary. Seems far away. But Mary Pippin make the decision to leave the Shire and to join this fight despite the danger. Even though they feel small and weak, they go anyway and they join the fight against evil. You know, they do their duty. And why do they do it? Because they think they personally are going to destroy Sauron and save the world. This is the idea of duty and virtue.
