How to Write a Sample Response to an Essay Question
We strongly encourage our teachers to write a sample response for all the essay questions that they assign their students and write theirs in advance of even considering providing that question to students. If you're lucky enough to have a document camera, or you can project the sample essay right onto a whiteboard, you can work through the essay together on the whiteboard. It's almost like you're grading an essay together and really looking closely at an essay together. And we also want to let them refer to it as they write their own essay - especially if you're teaching how to write your own first.
