Their underground network of mycelium is both decomposing and absorbing nutrients from the world around it. But in spite of recent best-selling books such as Merlin Sheldrick's The Entangled Life, western pharmaceutical science hasn't yet seriously started to explore the potential of mushrooms as medicine.
