The City Man's First Breath of the Night
With 300 more pesos in his pocket, the city man took the corpse back to the graveyard and buried her. The sun rose at the far edge of the road. Something moved up ahead. Bandits. By the time the bandits were anywhere near him, he was past the treeline. He ran until he broke through to a clearing beside a stream. Soon, he found what the bandits had been out there hiding. Gold. A chest full of gold. His first breath that wasn't through a reed in almost an hour.
