The bigger issue today is more interoperability in terms of communication. There was a point in the 90s where if you slap the J in front of every acronym, it was pretty much guaranteed to get funding because it was all about being joint. So just because it says J doesn't mean it's actually joint. The Air Force has dozens potentially dozens of things at any given time that I need to be on a shared network to share information. And then you get to the army like well I've got, you know, tens of thousands of nodes that I don't need the information. That's a completely different problem to solve from an engineering perspective.
