Lewis investigated the literary history of this system very closely and worked hard to communicate to his university audiences the precise nature of each medieval planet as a scholar of the 16th century he was deeply acquainted with the Capernican revolution. He thought that some of these imaginative effects were beneficial but others resulted in the disenchantment of the universe.
