Daniel Mosley: Why can't you just put any number protons and neutrons together and get an atom and call it a dane? It's really a fascinating question. He says the answer is related to the strong force, because they are tied together by stron force.Mosley: So this little residual extra bit of the strong force is actually the thing that holds the nucleus together. That's enough to overcome the repulsion from the proton.
