The Early Evidence for Pythagoras
Pythagoreanism is the movement which Pythagoras inspired in southern Italy. We begin with a survey of the earliest evidence for Pythagoras by name. Heraclitus, who's sort of the grumpy Nietzsche of ancient Greek philosophy, lived not much later than Pythagoras himself from around 535 to 475 BCE. The soul of one of Pythagoras' friends has ended up inside the puppy and he can recognize it as being the wise sage that he was. This seems to be evidence of the idea of animal reincarnation. Based on this and other evidence we can add to our shortlist of genuine Pythagorean doctrines.
