The system that daniel k is talking about can work, but it can only work for a small group of artists. You can't go silent for three to four years and neglect your fans and expect that when you come back they're going to remember or care about you. I mean, we are in a fast food society right now. Pupil's attention spans are tiny. We do need to work more, but that's not going to be possible for a lot of people.
