The Art of the Individual
Apelles is the best artist of his time. He combines technical skill with grace and an insight into humanity, taste and codic. Apelles hid behind a painting to listen to what people say it was under these circumstances. They say that he was censured by a shoemaker for having represented the shoes with one string too little. The shoemaker then began criticising him in legese full of indignation. Full of advice which has also been passed down from generation to generation.
