The Substitute Hypothesis
The idea of the substitution hypothesis ist the default state is just belief in mysticism and supers et cetera. And once one belief is extirpated or falls into ill repute, then another one comes in and takes its place. There's no reason for anything else other than there is insufficient evidence to warrant belief in god.
