The Cultural Specificity of Going for a Long Walk
I was just thinking about the cultural specificity of the idea that going for a long walk in the countryside is good for you. My understanding is it's a post-industrial revolution, like cities becoming highly populated in the UK and this kind of rise of the Victorian sense of what is good for a person to do. And then of course, obviously there are class implications there and everything that you said about the Ramblers. I'm fascinated by that, and it took me a long time to even understand that.
