CHAPTER

Is There a Global Consensus on the Human Environment?

The idea that the Koreans are the people of the trees is so embedded in everything Kim Il-sung writes and all of the mythology. You can see it not only in North Korea, but also in South Korea. It's this sort of interesting nationalist play against this kind of global view of environmentalism. I'm interested in how much that kind of regional, national kind of eco-theology can be generalized to other environmental contexts.
