The Importance of Parity in Media Storage
Most of the stuff that lives in my media, air quotes array these days is all largely ephemeral stuff. Do I therefore even need a snap rate, you know, parity check every day on that data? I don't know. The fact that the drives are now 10, 12, 14 plus terabytes makes it a bit easier to lose one to parity. So there are things that I wouldn't like to lose. It's not all totally replaceable, but I wouldn't cry if it went away. We also got some feedback about, let me say Cabin has been suggested as alternative K-B-I-N might be worth checking out.
