Sentimentality is a pretense, a masquerade, a protective device. It pretends to be full, but it is empty. As John Galloworthy said, I don't know what that is. Sentimentism is a working off of yourself of feelings you haven't really got. So that sort of error and tone, the only way to sort of compensate.
