The Story of Stelenach, a Christmas Song
In 18 18, a church organist in austria asked his friend to write a song for christmas eve mass. He was pleased with the result and decided to include it as part of that night's mass. Over the next few years, people continued to perform silent night all around Austria. It is now translated into more than 300 languages and dialects. In 20 11, unesco designated it as an intangible cultural heritage. Ben crosbie's 19 35 version is reportedly the number three best selling single of all time.
