Travis canik used to make a lot of calls back to the jitneys, which he would always talk about were like the early uber am that were defeated. The key difference with the gitneys is that it controlled all round the world and had this huge lobbying arm so it could push for its vision. Uber has not only had support from ventur capitalists, but also libertarian organizations that wanted to see broad de regulation of taxi industry. And i don't know if Travis calick fully realized that these answers were just a narrow class of users that were serving broadly the public even if it wasn't serving them well.
