The Power of 20% Time

Google famously instituted a rule that any employee could devote 20% of their workweek to any project they'd like. Eric Schmidt took some radical steps to keep ideas flowing within the organization. He granted employees the freedom not only to choose their projects, but openly to find their managers along the way. Many initiatives in the company have come out of 20% time ideas.
