I like to think that George Bush was a, you know, devout Christian. I didn't think he had any kind of public Christian presence at all. Reagan definitely believed that God wanted America to be hegemonic as a bulwark against the godless forces of communism and the Soviet Union. So he definitely had what you might call a civil religion, Christianity.
