Welch: The entire thing seems incredibly irrational, just from a statecraft standpoint. I can't imagine how vladimir putton thinks this is a good idea. And i can't imagine why you continue to do this, rather than find some sort of negotiated peace that perhaps allows you to save a little bit of face,. But it's ruinous for the Russian economy in every imaginable way.
